Pavel Goberman has entered the political fray once again!
This time he is running for Mayor of Beaverton. Usually Pavel runs for higher office, usually the United States Senate.
His has run for government positions including State House (Russia 1973), Oregon Senate District 4 – 2000, United States Senate – 2006, US House of Representatives District 1 – 2006, US Senate – 2008, United States Senate – 2010, and US House of representatives District 1 – 2012.
The man loves to campaign.
As Pavel takes his unique political style to the Beaverton mayoral race you can almost hear his opponents let out a collective groan.
Pavel Goberman is a passionate, outspoken, determined candidate who never gives up. He is equally passionate about his other major life interest, physical fitness.
Sometimes he combines the two.
It is not unheard of for Pavel to pull out a jump rope during a campaign debate and remind his audience of the virtue of physical fitness.
He speaks from experience.
Pavel Goberman is amazingly fit and healthy for a man in his seventies. He created, and advocates, the “Get Energized” program for physical fitness and health. To look at the man will convince you his program must work.
Pavel speaks with a fairly thick Russian accent which can be difficult to understand when he is passionate, which is much of the time. But one thing you can always understand, Pavel is not your run of the mill political candidate.
He has some interesting ideas. If elected Mayor of Beaverton he promises to stop the insurance companies from extorting money from people. If a citizen of Beaverton doesn’t have any auto accidents he promises they will get 50% of their premium back. If they drive less than 100 miles a month they will get 75% of there premium back.
No other politician is making this promise.
Pavel’s main talking points are that he sees almost all politicians as being criminal and corrupt. He sees himself as the champion for honesty, integrity, and incorruptibility.
He takes no campaign contributions so he is never tempted by special interests. He is incorruptible.
He attacks corrupt government, corporate greed, and the media junta. He sees the media mafia as being responsible for corrupting politicians. He formerly ran as a Democrat, but is now a Republican.
Regardless of the party, Pavel is in no ones back pocket.
For unknown reasons Pavel has not attracted broad political support. So far, at least, he has not won any elections.
Perhaps the Mayors race for the city of Beaverton will change all that.
We’ll see.
